Trump has been indicted on 37 counts of mishandling classified US documents. I can’t think of any reasonable person who, after being charged with 37 counts of an offense, would consider repeating the actions that led to the charges in the first place. Yet here we are.
Knowing Trump’s penchant for sharing classified information — and we’re not just talking about the current 37 counts, there were some high-profile intelligence leaks during Trump’s presidency, too (see one example here) — the Department of Justice filed a motion to block Trump from releasing any more classified materials that will be shared with his legal team during his prosecution.
This is similar to the motion NY prosecutors filed in the hush money indictment.
“The Discovery Materials, along with any information derived therefrom, shall not be disclosed to the public or the news media, or disseminated on any news or social media platform, without prior notice to and consent of the United States or approval of the Court”
DOJ, in NY indictment protective order
That this is even necessary speaks volumes. We’re forced to treat Trump like an insolent child because odds are good that he’s going to throw a temper tantrum and literally act like an insolent child.
