Trump’s legal team asked Aileen Cannon, the judge overseeing Trump’s classified documents mishandling case, to indefinitely postpone setting a trial date and suggested that electing a jury ahead of the 2024 election would be problematic, so the trial should wait until after the 2024 election.
Since when do we let criminals dictate the terms of their own justice? Excuse me, judge Aileen, I request a stay until I have the power to issue myself a pardon.
This is the clearest indicator yet that Trump’s strategy is to win the election and then squash the case afterwards. That’s a Captain Obvious statement, but this just ratchets up the intensity because it demonstrates that Trump’s team isn’t confident that they can win this case, which means the gloves will come off during the 2024 election. Look at the lengths he, his supporters, and the GOP in general went to attempting to steal the 2020 election — it will only get worse. Buckle up. 100 percent, every dirty tactic in the playbook will be used to steal 2024.
Some people can really just tell the justice system, “Nah, I don’t wanna.” What a crazy time to be alive.
