Days after FBI Director James Comey announced the reopening of the investigation into Hillary’s private email server, Trump found himself at campaign rallies in Concord, NC and Reno, NV. Because we love pointing out GOP hypocrisy, let’s take a look at Trump’s comments as the then Republican candidate for US President.
“If she were to win, it would create an unprecedented Constitutional crisis that would cripple the operations of our government.”
Donald Trump, at a campaign rally in Concord, NC on November 3, 2016
Donald Trump is the textbook example of a constitutional crisis. Let this sink in: if Trump is convicted of a felony, he loses his right to vote, but can still be president. 😱
“We could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial. . . It would grind government to a halt.”
Donald Trump, at a campaign rally in Reno, NV on November 5, 2016
Consider where we stand today:
- The Trump Organization was found guilty of fraud
- The Trump Foundation was shut down for improper use of charitable funds
- Trump lost a defamation case against E. Jean Carroll; defamation case #2 is on deck
- Trump has been federally indicted on 37 counts of mishandling classified information
- A superseding indictment on the current federal indictment is expected any day, and is expected to result in at least 30 more felony counts
- Additional election interference charges related to his “perfect phone call” with Georgia are expected within a few months
- Additional charges related to the January 6 insurrection, the false elector scheme, violent sedition, conspiracy to obstruct official procedure, and more is still gathering momentum
- A $250 million civil case against Trump and the kids for financial fraud related to false property valuations is in the works
And yet Trump is the leading GOP candidate for the 2024 presidential election. 🙃🙃
